Eggs and Embryos

Last Tuesday, Kevin and I went to Chattanooga to do our egg retrieval.  They were able to obtain 15 eggs, which I was very excited about. We knew we would lose some of those eggs once the embryologist did the ICSI procedure to fertilize them. My recovery was not bad at all, with only a few minor complications.  I had expected a lot of pain, but it was more just some soreness and fullness. All we could do is watch and wait.

Over the past few days, we've been getting updates from the embryologist on the development of our embryos.  There were a few that arrested (stopped developing) and some that did not develop normally.  I did not want to get my hopes up in terms of numbers, but once I knew the final number then I could rejoice in those.  I knew yesterday we had two embryos that would be frozen, and I was so happy for them. We were waiting to hear on four more embryos that had one more day to grow. Of those four, I would've been happy with one more at least, for a total of three. This morning, we heard that three more embryos are going to be frozen for a total of five. Five little Davenport embryos.

I am speechless. I am grateful. I am blessed.
