When Petunia refers to “that boy” we think she’s talking about James, but we later realize she’s talking about Severus.
When they fly away from Privet Drive, it foreshadows the disastrous escape in Deathly Hallows.
We meet two wonderful characters in OotP: Tonks and Luna Lovegood. It’s so good to additional strong female characters. I love Luna’s whimsical take loose on reality, as well as Tonks’ spunk and fire. I love how Luna becomes a friend and confidant for Harry through their shared experiences of loss. Then when she (and another favorite Neville) fight with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny in the Department of Mysteries, we see that those who may not be the coolest or most popular people are oftentimes the most reliable and faithful friends.
I was so proud when Hermione finally says Voldemort’s name out loud.
I was right! Dumbledore DID hint at the Room of Requirement to Harry at the end of book 4.
Harry’s signature charm is quickly becoming Expelliarmus…taught to him by none other than Snape. (Thanks Mandy for this one)
Question: What is the machine that Dumbledore uses in his office…the one that uses smoke? (p. 470)
“God Rest Ye Merrye Hippogriffs” is awesome….there should be a whole suite of hippogriff inspired songs… “I’m on a Hippogriff” anyone?
LOVE the scene with Neville at St. Mungo’s. We see Harry taking compassion on Neville by trying to give him is privacy. And when Neville pockets the wrapper his mother gave him…heartbreaking.
I love learning about a character's patronus. Hermione's patronus is J. K. Rowling's favorite animal: an otter.
When Dumbledore destroys the statue, it's like he's overturning the status quo of wizards being the "superior" magical creature.
The fifth book is the longest, but ironically has the shortest movie.
