SAHM Challenge, Week 3

Monday: I went to Knox Rail Salvage to check out some cabinets and hardwood floors for a house I'm "decorating." (And by this I mean I'm picking stuff out and other people are installing it.) Usually, Kevin's houses are all the same on the inside since it's easier to stick with stock paints and finishes, but he's working on a house that's a little bit nicer, and I'm getting to do some of the design myself. I'll post some B&A pics later.

I also delivered a TARDIS on Monday....which is definitely something I've never done before. :-O

Tuesday: I made another round of baby food for Catherine. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it. I hope to make a few new foods for her soon, but for now it's just the oranges (carrots, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash). The highlight of this week was definitely Tuesday night. I went to my first ever cooking class at KaTom. It was with Mahasti Vafaie (founder of The Tomato Head). We made a ratatouille, a salad with fresh beets, apples, and dried cranberries, and a plum/nectarine crisp for dessert. It was really inspirational, and I enjoyed learning a few tips and tricks from such a talented and approachable chef.

My favorite kinds of people to learn from are those who can take their vast knowledge and meet you where you are to take you to the next level. That's what any good teacher does every day, but I'm always excited and inspired when I talk to a friend who's WAY better at something than I am and learning from them. Whether it's cooking tips from Brian, hairstyles from Mandy, or writing inspiration from Bethany, I'm lucky to be around so many creative and knowledgable friends.

Friday: Today Catherine visited Fountain City Park for the first time, which was the first place Maggie visited with us when she joined our family five years ago this Halloween. Even though it was really hot, it was nice to see her in a place where I enjoyed myself many years ago when I lived in Fountain City.

I also took some photos to show my makeup process from start to finish (as inspired by r/makeupaddiction). I might make them into some sort of video or gif if I can get around to it, but I was reminded about how much I love wearing makeup. And so does John Green.

Here's to wearing "really beautiful armor"....
